From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
