19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his first championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various events.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
