Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for information.
An important representative said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
